Three electrical apprentices take top honours
In the hotly contested 2022 Master Electricians Apprentice Challenge, Mathew Masters (Auckland) and Thomas Mitchell (Palmerston North) were named the winners.

After two days of intense competition against eight other finalists, the pair received the ultimate “bragging rights” after being acknowledged for their efforts at a special awards ceremony last month.

Mathew, who is employed by Etco and hosted by Dalton Electrical, won the title in the industrial division, and Thomas, employed by Etco, and hosted by Hedley Electrical, won the title in the domestic/commercial division.

Jiehong Tan (employed by Etco and hosted by Dalton Electrical) received the Master Electricians Initiative Award – based on how the finalists approached the issue of health and safety as well as their conduct within the competition setting.
